The first step in getting information out of your complicated thought or feeling is to let it speak -- you let your thought gush out information. Psychologists call this "free association".

You don't try to produce information. You just let it happen.

Analogy: It's just like the game "What's the first thing that comes into your mind when I say 'mustard'?" Something just comes into your head. That first gush is probably related to mustard. That's how the brain works.

Your gush is not the final answer. But it is usually useful information. And its a place to start.
